 Blue Grass Shows was
established back in 1946 by Col. C.C.(Specs) Groscurth and his wife Ester. At that time,
the show was based out of Owensboro, Kentucky. It all started with only two, second-hand
rides. After just a few seasons, The Mighty Blue Grass Shows had grown into one of the
truly great motorized midways of its time. The show played some of the biggest and best
fairs along its ten thousand mile route through thirteen states.
In 1974, James J. Murphy Sr. purchased the Mighty Blue Grass Shows from the Groscurth's.
The show was then permanently moved to Tampa, Florida, where it remains to this day. The
high standards and expectations that the Groscurth's demanded for their show is still a
top priority. The Murphy family is proud to present one of the most attractive and safest
traveling amusement parks today. We still play many of the same fairs and festivals today,
that "Specs" played fifty years ago.
